THE WORLD, ON-CHAIN.
On 30 May 2019, Chainlink announced its launch on Ethereum mainnet. Smart contracts could execute on-chain, but needed an oracle to bring in information from outside the blockchain.
The initial ETH/USD reference feed used three separate data sources through three independent node operators. Combining multiple inputs aimed to reduce dependence on a single provider.
This was an early network with further expansion planned. Its reliability still depended on the data and operators; the launch was no guarantee that every external claim would become true.
HISTROVE imagines Ethereum as a completed city across a mountain valley. Three blue beams reach it from separate numbered beacons. The landscape turns the distance between external information and on-chain applications into something visible.
A lone traveller watches from the ridge. The city, traveller and light paths are fictional visual metaphors. THE WORLD, ON-CHAIN. expresses the card's editorial theme, rather than quoting the launch announcement.
