WEALTH INTO WATER.
In late 2017, an anonymous Bitcoin holder calling themselves Pine began the Pineapple Fund. A cryptocurrency fortune became a way to support charitable work. The giving campaign continued into 2018, turning roughly US$55 million into donations over several months while its founder remained publicly pseudonymous.
Pine's recipients pursued different kinds of change. Alongside clean-water work, the fund supported medical research through MAPS, where an initial gift was followed by a matching campaign. The wider story was about directing Bitcoin wealth toward organisations already working on difficult problems, rather than creating a single new charity.
The Water Project received US$1 million in Bitcoin in late 2017. Its later impact account credited the gift with 37 new water projects across three programme areas in Kenya and Sierra Leone. The contribution also helped build the organisation's capacity to keep water available after a new point first opened.
In 2018, that support accelerated a regional service hub in western Kenya, including water-quality testing and maintenance support. A subsequent pilot explored phone-based reports of whether water points were working. These details give the scene its second adult: a technician checking the system as another person fills a container.
HISTROVE's First Clear Water scene is a fictional, representative community. The PINE plaque links the water point to the anonymous donor, while the Bitcoin case identifies the source of the gift. The notebook records a later impact snapshot: its 2019 date is separate from the card's 2018 campaign year, not a claim that every pictured outcome happened then.
