SECOND BAILOUT FOR BANKS.
Bitcoin’s Genesis block was created on 3 January 2009 with a newspaper message inside it.
A hooded figure sits before a wall of light. Rain streaks the window, a newspaper lies open beside the keyboard, and a familiar whitepaper rests on the desk. The room is imagined. The data on the screen comes from Bitcoin's first block.
On 3 January 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto created the Genesis block: block zero, the starting point of Bitcoin's chain. Its recorded timestamp is 18:15:05 UTC. With no earlier block to point to, it establishes the beginning of the history that later blocks would extend. The proposal introduced in the whitepaper now had its first block.
Inside its coinbase transaction, Satoshi placed a newspaper reference: The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks. A headline about rescuing banks became part of the new system's opening record. It anchors that record to the news of the day; reading it as a political statement is an interpretation, rather than an explanation supplied by the block itself.
The block contains a 50 BTC output that cannot be spent. On the monitor, orange characters reveal the newspaper message inside the raw data, while the rest remains blue. The whitepaper beside the keyboard links this scene to card 005: the published idea followed by a concrete beginning. The developer's face stays hidden, leaving the person behind the name unresolved.
